Build Season and Muskegon Event Recap
Coming into this season of FIRST Robotics Competition, we are excited to introduce our robot Betty Webb, named in honor of one of the last remaining Enigma code breakers from World War II who recently passed away. This year’s game, REBUILT, is archaeology themed and re-uses old game elements from many years past. The main scoring elements this year are yellow balls called fuel that, while seemingly simple, have provided challenges revolving around how many we can shoot in a short period of time to keep up with the top teams in the world.
Despite these challenges, we had enormous accomplishments at the FIM District Muskegon Event, our first event of the season. We captained the 1st alliance and succeeded as the finalist alliance along with teams 6090 and 11503 against some tough competitors. We had a lot of fun being able to compete and collaborate with such amazing teams on the road to success. We also won the Autonomous Award for having a reliable and high-performance program in the first period of the game, in which the robot completes programmed motions without humans on the controls. The robot is currently undergoing major changes in preparation for the FIM District Kentwood Event to improve our rate of success in matches and our ability to support a winning streak.
